I am so proud of my wife, Kristen Fugal, as she serves on the board of the Stella H. Oaks Foundation - focusing on providing education & opportunities for single mothers. This weekend was the Provo City Marathon, which included the “Run for Stella”, raising money for this incredible cause.Stella Oaks was widowed at 36 & mother of 3 (including President Dallin H. Oaks) and was the first woman elected to Provo City Council who also served as Assistant Mayor. Stella's high visibility & accomplishments, both in motherhood & in work & public life, made her a role model for many women, especially for widowed or divorced mothers struggling to earn a living & raise a family alone.Kristen was a widowed single mother for 6 years, following the unexpected death of her husband in 2016. She was also raised by a single mother herself, who sacrificed & put herself through nursing school to provide for her children. This is a very personal cause for her.Investments made to support the educational goals of single mothers result in meaningful benefits not only for women & their families, but also for the communities in which they live. In 2000 I participated in the groundbreaking & leasing of a new office building located off I-15 at 106th South in South Jordan. Several years ago I sold that building (then Parkway Tower) to visionary investor Robert Hayman, who has completely transformed & renovated the building into Vibe Parkway - reflecting new Class A finishes & innovative design.
