Pair it with all your favorite chopped veggies and pita dippers and get ready to watch it disappear and your next party or gathering.

DIP IT GOOD!

Having a few tasty dip recipes in rotation is a total must around here, since we’re always looking for something to dunk veggies in!

Whether it’s for holiday appetizers, entertaining with friends and family, or simply after school snacking of the ravenous variety (MUST EAT ALL THE FOODS!!!), dips do it all! We’re all about the finger foods right now and I’m always eager to get my hands on this dip.

fresh vs dried dill

Both fresh and dried dill work marvelously here so feel free to use what you have on hand!

Because dried herbs are generally more concentrated and flavorful than fresh herbs, you’ll need less when using dried. The general rule of thumb is to use about three times the amount of fresh herbs as dry. This can be adjusted to taste, of course, so if you’l like to start out with a little and then taste and increase the amount as you go, that’s great too.

dill dip serving suggestions

You can serve this spicy dill veggie dip with anything and everything your heart desires!

Since this dill dip is made with Greek yogurt in place of mayo, I like to serve it up Mediterranean mezze platter style with fresh veggies and pita bread.

Carrots, celery, sliced bell pepper, cauliflower, broccoli, and cucumber make excellent dippers.

You can also cut sweet mini peppers in half and use them dunking. Their scoop shape makes them perfect for piling on the dip!

It’s also fantastic with thick-cut potato chips, sweet potato chips, pita chips, and pretzels.

Spicy Dill Dip

Feel free to make this delicious homemade dill dip as spicy or as mild as you like!

Spice it up by adding extra jalapeño, including the jalapeño seeds in the mix, or adding crushed red pepper flakes to the dip. Prefer a mild dill dip? skip the jalapeño entirely and simply make a lightened up, more traditional dill dip instead. Both versions rock our socks!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup 2% Greek Yogurt
  • 1 cup sour cream (light or regular)
  • 1 large jalapeño
  • ¼ of an English cucumber (optional but delicious!)
  • 2 TBSP mincedfresh dillor 1-2 teaspoons dried dill
  • 1 TBSP fresh chopped green onion
  • ½ TBSP dried parsley
  • 1 tsp onion powder or dried onion
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt

DELISH DIPPERS

  • Baby carrots
  • Celery sticks
  • Sliced bell pepper
  • Chopped cauliflower
  • Chopped broccoli
  • Sliced cucumber
  • Pita wedges
  • Pita chips

Instructions

  • Combine greek yogurt and sour cream in a medium bowl.

  • Remove the stem and mince your jalapeño.Include all of the seeds for a spicy dip, half for a lightly zesty dip, and no seeds at all for a mild fresh dill dip. Add to the bowl.

  • Grab a 3 inch section of an English cucumber and coarsely grate with a cheese grater. Wring out excess moisture in a paper towel then mince with a chef's knife. Add to the bowl.

  • Stir in dill, green onion, parsley, onion powder, garlic powder, and salt.

  • Cover bowl with plastic wrap and place in the fridge for a minimum of one hour, or simply make it the day before for an extra flavorful dip! Serve with all your favorite dippers and dig in!

Notes

I love using jalapeño (and it's spicy seeds) to control the spice of this dip. Other fiery add-ins include hot chili sauce (like Sriracha), ground cayenne pepper, and red pepper flakes.Season to taste with any extras of your choosing and taste as you go.

This dip can be made with as little as 1 hour chill time, but for even more flavor try making this dip the night before, letting it chill while you sleep. The spices will mingle with the yogurt and sour cream and it's just plain glorious!
